Mr Kolb is a consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises in Vitreous, Retinal and Cataract surgery.

He graduated from Newcastle University before obtaining a national training number in Ophthalmology. He has gained a wealth of experience working at different hospitals across the United Kingdom and New Zealand. He has gained advanced sub specialty training in Vitreoretinal surgery at Europe's largest teaching hospital, St James University Teaching Hospital in Leeds.

He now works at St James University Hospital as a consultant Vitreoretinal surgeon and honorary senior lecturer at the University of Leeds. Mr Kolb is passionate about training junior ophthalmic surgeons, supervising Vitreoretinal and Cataract trainees at St James University Hospital.

Mr Kolb is avidly engaged in research, having published many articles in international journals, including the British journal of Ophthalmology, the British Medical Journal and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has also presented at national and international conferences. He is a surgical investigator in the multinational research projects investigating novel therapies such as sub retinal gene therapy.
